Temporary Biologist – Automation 80-100% (m/f/d)

Our company is looking for a motivated scientist to temporarily join our Services Process Development team for 12 months, starting as soon as possible.
Do you have a strong technical background to contribute to our cell line engineering service business? This role is ideal for cell biologists that are keen on smart lab technologies.
Please note that we are only open to part-time employments (80% or 90%) if distributed on all 5 working days of the week to ensure smooth continuation of wet-lab experiments.
Your Challenge
- Hands-on development of efficient and automated workflow solutions in collaboration with our interdisciplinary team of automation and software engineers
- Contribute to requirements definition and finding novel approaches to tackle automation challenges
- Design and carry out wet-lab tests to qualify automation solutions
- Identify automation opportunities and present them to the team
- Write work instructions and transfer knowledge to the Services Fulfillment team with the ultimate goal of scaling up project execution capacities
- Troubleshoot and solve technical problems
Your Profile
- Master or PhD degree in cell biology, molecular biology, biotechnology, bioengineering, or a related field
- 2-3 years of practical experience after finalization of your Master or PhD degree, with first industry experience being of great advantage
- Strong technical knowledge of mammalian cell culture, incl. maintenance and expansion, as well as general laboratory techniques (DNA extraction, PCR, sequencing, immunofluorescence, etc.)
- Comfortable with wet-lab work and experimental troubleshooting
- Ability to work cross-functionally with engineers and software developers to translate biological workflows into automated protocols
- Experience in designing and optimizing experiments, monitoring performance, and implementing improvements
- Proven exposure to automation technologies or a strong curiosity to learn about robotic and automated cell culture systems
- Capable of working autonomously, taking ownership of projects, and driving innovation
- Ability to set the problem space and define key questions with a problem-solving mindset
- Excellent communication skills with the desire to work in an interdisciplinary environment
- High proficiency in English (written and spoken)
